Hauppauge Digital Terrestrial Receiver DEC1000-t

The Hauppauge DEC1000t is the baby brother of the PC/ USB enabled 2000t, it contains the same chipset as the 2000 and delivers good quality MPEG decoded images via the scart or RF output cables.

Setup is fairly painless via the on screen menu system its nearly plug and play with the auto setup correctly finding our crystal palace transmitter and freeview multiplexes, the manual is a little cryptic but we found almost all the functions intuitive and driving the box via the remote is simple enough.

As with all Freeview boxes the DEC1000t gives you access to over 30 TV channels and many digital radio stations, the unit is compatible with DTT interactive for example BBCi, the unit comes supplied with both an RF and scart cable. Software updates are automatically received as they are transmitted over the DTT multiplex and installed on the DEC1000t.

Hauppauge know how to make a good unit and the dec1000t is no exception along with the entire DEC range the 1000t is small yet stylish, ideal for being tucked away out of sight, the range of Freeview receivers is immense and your choice of receiver comes down to personal taste, given the choice and more cash we'd buy the 2000t bigger brother but at around £60 its a good buy.
