Creative Travelsound

Creative TravelsoundOff on holiday with you new shiny MP3 player? but how can you share you funky tunes with everyone else, we've already seen the Altec Ipod Speakers and now we've got our paws on the Creative Travelsound system.

The creative Travelsound system comprises of 2 slim lightweight speakers capable of producing 2 watts (RMS) this is combined with a digital amplifier to make the most of your MP3 players output. Audio quality is really quite surprising from such small speakers, creative claim a frequency response of 150Hz-20kHz
which seems to be an honest enough specification and the stereo image is also good when in close proximity.

Creative TravelsoundThe audio level achievable from the Creative Travelsound Speakers has to be heard to be believed we though the Altec's did a good job but creative AAA powered babies manage to fill a small room with sound and produce a good deal of Bass too which is quite an achievement. Perhaps there is a bit of distortion if you really push the units to their limit but overall its hard to fault creative when this set is sub £50.

The AAA batteries power the Creative Travelsound units for 35 hours which is ample for that beach holiday or a good stay away from mains power, the truth is your MP3 player will run out of juice long before the Travelsound. The mains PSU is an option if you want to run them in a more permanent setup and its supplied with a 13 Amp  three-pin UK plug and  with a two-pin 'continental' plug but the adaptor weighs almost as much as the whole package, so much so that you'll probably ditch it before travelling.

The silver and black unit looks a little cheap and does not have anywhere near the level of style of the Altec Inmotion unit, but they are really for Ipod users where as the Creative Travelsound is suitable for all MP3 players and manages a balance between being ok looking and cheap.

Overall Creative have delivered a well priced travel kit for portable audio, sure it's never going to sound like a real HiFi but as long as you don't set your expectations too high you will be impressed with the audio level and quality obtainable from such a small kit, the Creative Travelsound is difficult to ignore at under £50.
