HP Scanjet 4670 Scanner

HP Scanjet 4670 ScannerHP have taken a new view of scanning documents with the 4670 scanner the latest addition to the Scanject range, how many times have you had to re scan opening the lid and trying again to get the whole document on the scanning bed? HP have decided to let you see what you are doing in fact to see what's going on all the time with a see through scanner.

The HP Scanjet 4670 is also a piece of art, scanners are traditionally dull lifeless bits of plastic that feel cheap according to their price tag they can be yours for as little as £50  but what if you are a stylish gadgeteer and value form as well as function. For a start the new HP scanner is upright not flatbed and its slim silver form with a see though scan window is a bit reminiscent of a picture frame, but the design meets its purpose it takes up far less space than a flatbed scanner and the window allows for perfect document positioning.

In fact its almost (and we do stress almost) entertaining to watch the image sensor and lamp positioned between the two polycarbonate sheets light up as they whiz backwards and forwards while scanning, the design isn't cluttered with buttons either there are only four Scan, Print, Web, and Low Power. But most of us will be controlling the 2,400 DPI scanner from the provided software or via plugins to popular software like Photoshop, performance is good with the 4670 performing well with our OCR software it did struggle a little with the extremities of the image. Connectivity is via USB 2.0 (backwards compatible with USB 1.1) and the power cable joins the USB cable so that the USB plug is the only one that plugs into the 4670.

Simple to operate, a good solid scanning performance and eye catching design HP have really started something here maybe a scanner doesn't have to be dull after all.
