A while back we
reviewed the Jabra BT200 headset and were mildly under whelmed by the
experience, so it was with much trepidation we took the Jabra Bluetooth
Headset BT250 for a test
fearing we would have to give it a less than glowing report once again.
But the Jabra BT250 is a vast
improvement on the 200 and we are relieved to be able to give you the run
down on what seems to be a good headset. It supports both headset and hands
free profiles for ease of connection to any Bluetooth enabled mobile or
audio compatible device, the 8 hour talk time also equates to 240hrs on
standby and yet it weighs in at just 23 grams.
Jabra have used their experience in
wired headsets to provide a very comfortable headset, the patented MiniGel
system ensures that the earpiece sits snugly yet easily in your ear with the
rest of the boom style setup relying on a behind ear anchorage, this was
comfortable for hours of use at a time. Audio quality is good and speech is
accurately picked up even in the nosiest of cars thanks to a good noise
suppression system and microphone amplifier, calls can be answered by the
push of the one operating button on the headset and if you use voice
dialling on an enabled phone its a simple push and speak to dial out.
Range is the claimed 10 meters for a
class 1 Bluetooth device but we did find it tails off in quality at about
half this distance which is poor for a headset, but this was about the only
bad point discovered during our week long test of the Jabra Bluetooth
headset BT250. Priced at
£50 its quite attractive when compared to offerings from Sony Ericsson and
Nokia especially given the good battery life and long distance comfort this
gets the thumbs up from us.
