Tweaking
an already good product can be a risky business and Jabra's BT250
headset is still on of the best selling Bluetooth headsets so a new
Jabra BT250V version needs to add something special to make the risk
worthwhile. The Jabra BT250V is still the good
solid base that keeps it selling in volumes It supports both headset
and hands free profiles for ease of connection to any Bluetooth
enabled mobile or audio compatible device, the 7 hour talk time also
equates to 200hrs on standby and yet it weighs in at just 23 grams.
Again this headset is supremely comfortable for long journeys or
even use in the office the patented MiniGel
system ensures that the earpiece sits snugly yet easily in your ear with the
rest of the boom style set-up relying on a behind ear anchorage. The 10
meter Bluetooth range is plenty for most applications and some
useful extras like last number redial and voice dialling are
available with compatible phones.
Audio quality is very good with good strong volume levels and
clear voice transmission, the microphone used on the BT250V is a
unidirectional one that seems to good a good job of filtering out
background noise especially traffic and road noise.
The big new feature for this model is vibrating alter, this means
that the headset give a little shake when an incoming call triggers
the headset, ideal if you don't want the BT250V ringing in your ear
or if you might be in a noisy environment. From our tests this works
well but is of limited use, after all if you can't hear a headset
ring in your ear then a vibration is not likely to stir you either
and we don't see many builder with Bluetooth headsets on.
Charging your BT250V headset takes about 2 hours from flat and
the whole package comes with a little cradle to sit your headset on
while it recuperates.
Priced at £59.99 it comes as a premium over the standard BT250
and while this model will out last the standard device for the
moment we'd suggest you stick with the cheaper model and leave the
Jabra BT250V and it's vibrating alert until the price start to drop.
