Jabra BT300

Jabra BT300Wow what a whopper!  no not a come on to LP but the reaction to the Jabra BT 300 Bluetooth headset, in this day and age where everything gets smaller the last thing we expected to get when Jabra announced the BT300 was a bigger headset than the outgoing BT250. But then it happened! at 9 and a half centimetres long its very big and even when clamped to your head you feel like some technological leech is sucking your blood out through your cheek!

Of course the huge expanse of plastic that is the BT300 means that ergonomically there is a well designed layout for the controls with and up down volume selector and a multifunction button which is used to answer and initiate calls, the power button is tucked away on the inner side of the Jabra.

The BT300 excels in the technology applied to this the latest in a line of top selling headsets, with a standby time of 150 hours and a talk time of 4 hours it is up there with the best currently available, it manages to start from cold very rapidly much more so than our HBH-35 and 65 not that this was ever much of an issue. Jabra have stayed with the Bluetooth 1.1 standard for this unit unlike the more business aimed BT800 but this still allows for pairing with up to 8 devices and the standard 10 meter range.

BT300 Bluetooth headsetAn upside of the large housing is that the microphone is much closer to the mouth which helps in part towards the excellent audio pick up of the Jabra BT300, the speaker is loud and clear even when on the move in a noisy car. It can be worn on either ear as the ear loop simply hinges over the unit to swap sides but beware this is not the most secure of headsets and the large 26 gram case ends up flapping against your head which is quite off putting with the size of the BT300.

When the BT300 first hits the UK shops its expected to retail at about £75 including the charger and a pouch and we can't deny you get some good technology for your hard earned cash, you could also argue you get a lot of product as well but in a Bluetooth headset market dominated by the smaller units its weird how Jabra have gone for the hearing aid like BT250 to a limpet mine!

If you can stomach the poor fit and oversized dimensions the Jabra Bt300 will serve you well, just you might not want to wear it in public.
