Jabra BT330 Review

Jabra BT330 ReviewJabra have set about refreshing their Bluetooth headset range and this Jabra BT330 headset sits squarely at the bargain end of the range but that doesn't mean cheap.

The 68 x 33 x 26 mm Bluetooth headset weighs in at a mere 17g and that's despite packing a lithium polymer battery capable of up to 200hrs of standby and 7 hours talk time all this crammed into a sub £40 headset.

We thought that in order to achieve this price Jabra must have cut some corners but on the face of it its difficult to see where, the silver and black housing looks good and the rubberised ear loop makes for a comfortable fit and a secure one. The technology inside is the latest Bluetooth 1.2 standard which is backwards compatible with older phones, but when working with newer models it gives a much stronger signal and better call quality.

We found the Jabra BT330 to have one of the best audio reproduction systems we've reviewed to date and that includes many more expensive units, the microphone also seems to do a good job of suppressing background noise but it is not quite as a good as the Bluespoon's noise cancelling system.

There is a host of features you may not expect at this price point including voice activated calling assuming you phone is capable plus the ability to manage call waiting and last number redial from the headsets minimalist controls. There is a single large button dead centre to the shell for answering and making calls plus this is also used in the pairing process., volume control is achieved by two buttons on the upper edge of the unit.

In a step forward for us Jabra have equipped this headset with the ability to charge from a PC's USB socket which means the ability to charge at work or even from your laptop, the BT330 also comes with the more standard mains AC adaptor for use at home.

Over the course of a weekend we made a number of calls and found that even at the extremity of the 10 meter range the Jabra BT330 is a reliable device with a good volume level making it quite a bargain at £39.99, it does make you question how some headsets can justify a £100 price tag?
