The
Jura Impressa F90 is at first glimpse one monumental piece of
kitchen kit. Bold vertical lines, a contrast of sharp and curved
edges, illuminated digi panel and other nifty lights make this look
like it has just landed from outer space which will have your mates
looking at it in ore. So there is no doubting the Jura Impressa F90
is the Rachel Stevens of coffee machines but does it have more
brains.
The first thing you
come across is a ‘Knowledge Builder’ CD Rom that will guide you
through the 36 different coffee variations available for selection
through the touch screen technology, and how to operate the F90 for
maximum performance. It has nine different brewing styles, two aroma
options and two temperature levels for each cup! If this wasn’t
enough the Jura F90 ‘Connectivity Kit’ allows you to connect direct
with Jura for the latest menu choices.
The key feature on
this machines are simple to locate and action. I.P.B.A.S
(Intelligent pre brew aroma system,) works by moistening the ground
coffee with hot water causing the pores to swell and produce aroma.
The hot water is then pressed through the coffee at high pressure
ensuring the aroma makes it to the cup. Other Features include;
1.9ltr water tank (enough for about twelve cups,) fifteen bar high
performance pump, built in six stage grinder, adjustable water
hardness filter, Auto Cappuccino (no need to froth separately.)
The main difference
between the Jura F90 and other top end machines on the market is
that it can really make two cups of coffee of the same strength at
the same time. Most other machines take the same quantity of coffee
and pass double the amount of water through but the F90 takes enough
coffee for two cups making each cup equal strength and consistency.
To make a good
cappuccino or latte is a real art form in itself, and to maximise
the full potential of this machine you do need to turn the auto
cappuccino function off and go it solo. Practice does make perfect
and we recommend that you buy several pints of milk before you
invite any friends round. Within five or six attempts of using the
two-stage frothing nozzle you will have found the perfect pressure
for warming the milk (this can then be pre-set.) Please remember
that the machine isn’t cleaver enough to work out weather your milk
is chilled or not and the frothing setting will have to be adjusted
to accommodate this. (The premium angle for frothing is 45 degrees
and should always be done so in a stainless steel or aluminium jug
to avoid curdling.)
Weighing in at 9.7kg the Jura Impressa F90 can be as simple or
complicated as you like. Once programmed it will do everything for
the complete novice but at the press of a button will also be a
pleasure for the experienced coffee expert to use. At around £850
its not cheap but you are virtually getting your own mini Starbucks
in your kitchen.
