The
Krups F9364138 Cafe Presso Crematic Coffee Centre is one of those
machines that we could discuss the features of all day, but the one
question we intend to get an answer to is… is it any good?
This machine differs from other on the market in
that it’s not an espresso or a filter machine but both! In fact
whatever your style of coffee it makes them all.
It is a large yet attractive machine, it’s the
Dawn French of the coffee world. Those of you that like big
appliances will be well pleased to have this one sitting on you
kitchen worktop. Made of top end plastic modelled stylishly around
the 1.5ltr boilers and finished of with brushed stainless steel
trim, it really is one of those wow factor machines that your mates
couldn’t fail to comment on.
The main feature of the Krups Cafe Presso can
be clearly defined into three categories: Espresso, Cappuccino and
Filter. These are easily selected and no navigation experience is
needed to switch between options.
Espresso
The 15 bar pump pressure ensures the full
release of flavour and aroma from the coffee making sure that if you
purchase expensive beans you will definitely taste the difference.
The inbuilt temperature control system also keeps the water
constantly at the same level, even when the power is directed to the
frothing nozzle or the filter functions.
Cappuccino
The cappuccino function follows on from the
espresso, in that if you want this style of coffee first you need to
make your espresso and then switch over and use the milk frother.
The frother again benefits from the high bar pressure making sure
steam is released at enough pressure to warm the milk whilst not
burning it. It also has a patented design of nozzle that krups has
become famous for which really does differ in quality form other
brands. It’s also easily removable for cleaning which is essential
if you don’t want that stale milk taste.
Filter
Having a filter coffee function on an espresso
machine is not that unusual but having one of such good quality is
rare! Usually you find the manufacturers normally stick one on very
cheaply thinking they will be able to push up the retail price, in
fact the reality of this is they get an awful lot of returns with
perfectly good espresso machines but knackered filter makers. This
is not the case with the Krups 9364138. The main features of this
are simple but good, a ten-cup capacity is large for multi function
machines and to find a hotplate that can keep warm at the same
temperature for as long as you need it is again unusual.
This machine also takes standard filters
available from all supermarkets and coffee stores. Our top tip isn’t
to go for the cheapest but there is also no need to go for the most
expensive, the best way to get great coffee is to buy great beans
and grind them yourself as required, not spend a huge amount on bits
of paper. Other key features on the filter maker are a swing out
filter for easy replacement and a drip stop system.
The Krups F9364138 cafe presso
has been knocking about for a while yet it still floats round the
top ten best selling coffee machines on the market, why? The real
appeal here isn’t the features or its sleek rounded ‘sexy’ body,
more that it is everything to all people. It meets the needs of
whoever uses it; whether that’s Espresso, cappuccino or filter
coffee it produces great results with the least operator
involvement. The main question isn’t whether to buy this machine but
more like what type of coffee should I have today!
