Linksys wireless pci card WPC54G

Linksys have produced a real workhorse of a card, the WPC54G wireless PCI card is highly reliable and compatible with both 802.11b and 802.11g giving the full range of 11mbit/s to 54mbit/s on the same card, we currently use this model in a laptop on an older 802.11b network and find it is highly reliable and a better performer than older dedicated 802.11b cards. In fact given that the wireless industry is pushing towards wireless G as a standard it makes sense to invest in the this technology even before you upgrade your router.

Linksys are a consumer division of Cisco and it shows in the quality of this product, a matter of 45 minutes is all it takes to get from the box opening stage to a an operational link with your network even 128mbit WEP encrypted. We use a mixed farm of cards with an Alcatel wireless router and they all perform well we haven't seen any issues with such a diverse community of slot fillers and the Linksys is seen as the best performer in terms of download speeds and not giving any funnies unlink our built in dell system.

The range seems good with it working all over the building unlike a few other cards which seem to be upset by common things like walls!

There's not really a lot one can say about a wireless card so we'll leave you with a few links to the excellent linksys support site for drivers and updates. Linksys Support.
