Logitech MX700 Mouse

The eighties and nineties had a lot to answer for LP's fleck Miami vice style jacket for one! but the other legacy was the explosion in electronics and gadgets which in turn has left us with a legacy of cables, literally hundreds of them.

The Logitech MX700 Mouse tries to lose at least one, the one that would have connected your mouse to the PC, using radio frequency technology the Logitech mouse connects back to its base station which also doubles as its charging point and home.

Gone are the bad old days of the early RF mouse where the connection was at best slow if not flaky this Logitech model is lightening fast and was hard to tell apart from our corded Microsoft intellimouse. In fact the overall feel and quality of the Logitech was as good if not better than our current MS mouse and its accuracy with its optical sensor seemed slightly better than our occasionally wayward cable version.

Of course the Logitech MX700 mouse uses batteries, unlike the very first RF mice these are rechargeable and will go for about 3 days without the mouse being popped back on its stand for a recharge which only takes about 3 hours to charge fully from flat. The mouse controls include a wheel for surfing the web or game control and a forward and back button which are very handy for navigating the web, also there is a quick select button which can be programmed to start commonly used applications like email or MSN.

Ergonomically the Logitech MX700 mouse is very good proving a worthy companion for prolonged surfing or heaven forbid actual work, currently its a right handed only device with no sign that Logitech will make one suited for left handers just yet.

The base station connects to your PC via USB or if you need it comes with a USB / PS2 adaptor allowing it to go in the old fashioned mouse slot, overall this is a tidy package for the princely sum of £45 and it comes with Logitech's 5 year guarantee, a pretty good deal for this level of technology.
