Motorola HF800

HF800It's possibly one of the strangest gadgets we have to review for a few months, but this week saw the arrival of the Motorola HF800 Bluetooth Speaker, designed to be a mobile conference phone the HF800 uses the Bluetooth 1.1 standard to link a BT enabled mobile or other device to the two way speaker system,.

Driving the HF800 is simple enough as their are only 2 buttons the power switch which doubles up as volume control and the multifunction button which does everything else from answering calls to controlling the 3 way calling system.

Using the Motorola speaker unit on the road seems to work well, despite our reservations the unit is certainly loud enough and you don't have to huddle round it, using unique duplex echo, noise cancelling technology it behaves like a good quality conference phone on your desk or in the boardroom. The difference here is that ability to leave your mobile in a pocket and place the attractive HF800 on the desk while you have a multiparty conference call for up to 3 hours without needing to recharge the battery.

It Comes with a neat carry case and uses a standard Motorola charger (the same one used by the moto phone range) to recharge, the unit can sit in standby for 100  hours but we doubt it will be used like that, far more likely that the road warrior will unpack it for motorway side meetings in the little chef.

£60 is about comparable with a good Bluetooth headset so this seems like good value for money for those who need to hold those roadside or on site meetings and like most Motorola Technology the HF800 looks the part too so you won't be embarrassed when you put it on the table.
