We've tried lots of Bluetooth
headsets since the UK mobile driving ban came into effect with mixed results
the best give great reception and audio quality but lack talk time and visa
versa, but the Plantronics Bluetooth Headset M3000 really impressed.
The M3000 has a massive 8hr
talk time and 200 hrs
standby time, before needing to connect to its charger for just 90 minutes
before being ready to work for another day, this is easily enough even for
heavy mobile users who traverse the country while on the phone. Audio quality
is excellent with a noise cancellation system suppressing road roar while on
the move and even a must function should you need to advise other drivers of
mistakes without your caller hearing the expletives. The class 1 plantronics
M3000 gives the standard 10 meter range and we found it to be quite
tenacious at holding onto the Bluetooth signal at the edge of this range
without suffering from fades in audio.
Its comfy enough to wear if a little bulky compared to
some models being 8cm x 3cm and 3cm thick at the ear pad point, it comes
with 2 ear loops of different sizes and can be modified to hang on either
ear but is setup for the right ear out of the box.
Plantronics have ensured that the headset can support
both hands free and headset profiles which we tested with both a Sony
Ericsson and Nokia mobile, both worked without issue, we also like the way
it folds up into a small package making it easy to pocket. Overall this is
value for money having been recently reduced in price its works very well
and is built to last but it may just be a bit too big for the self conscious
Bluetooth user.
