SMAN for P800 P900

SMAN for P800 P900SMAN is a software suite based on the Symbian Operating system in use in many Sony Ericsson Products including the P900 and P800 mobile phones, in fast Symbian was at the heart of the Psion PDA range, but it is put to use in many mobile phone / PDA combinations to good effect. SMAN is a shell which contains a number of useful applications and a way of navigating your SmartPhone which is more intuitive than the Symbian OS.

So what functions do you get?  Well lets start with the one your really want the Bluejack function, now Bluejacking has been hyped out of all proportions but it is simply sending a contact card from your phones contacts to another user using Bluetooth, the thing is you create a card with a name like "the devil" and a surname like "who's been naughty" this is then beamed to any user within the 10 meter range of the phone.

To the recipient it seems like a text message has been received but it comes from a numberless source, of course you can see the victim and send more targeted messages once you have identified who got the message, most phones will have a name like "T68i" unless the user has changed the phone name. Its great fun and fairly harmless just keep the messages jokey and it can help pass the time while at a station or another location where you have nothing to do for a while. Now to Bluejack manually requires you to select the contact you want to send and then select "send via Bluetooth" then scan for any available phones before sending the message, all this takes valuable time and also makes you a bit obvious.

Enter the main function of SMAN it's Bluejack feature, this little application simplifies the process by searching for all phones within range and delivering a pre defined message to as many as it can as fast as it can, it has in built cool off periods so it doesn't spam the same phone over and over. SMAN can be set to either complete a number of sweeps and stop or to sweep continuously while you pocket the phone, the vibration in your pocket lets you know that you've got another victim and you can check the log afterwards.

SMAN can be switched to semi manual so you can select individual victims or select which message they get but it really is a neat bit of software for the hardened Bluejacker, we tested it on both P800's and P900's and it performed flawlessly.

Now I know you want this for that function alone but you also get a file manager to navigate your phone, a system info screen to allow you to see capacities, firmware revisions etc.. a number of utilities and a today page view a bit like pocket PC 2003 which can be customised with a Skin to make you phone stand out!

Now SMAN was developed as a user interface for the Sony Ericsson SmartPhones which uses applications that are already on the phone and it does this very well but we just can't help but love the Bluejack feature which provides hours of fun and best of all SMAN is free, visit the website to download and do read the instructions they help!
