Sometimes less is more, which is just as well as the latest MP3
player from Yakumo is certainly less in the physical space
department but gives that bit more in terms of storage. The Yakumo
Hypersound 256 has as its name suggests 256 megabytes of on board
flash storage, the form factor is the same as a USB key which is
uncanny as that's just what it doubles up as, simply plug it into and
PC with Windows ME or above and its turns up as a mapped drive. Then
its just a matter of dragging your files or any kind of document
onto it and away you go, its trick however comes when you load it
with MP3 or WMA files and then it can spring to life as the most
miniature of MP3 players.
Powered by a single AAA battery the Yakumo Hypersound MP3 USB key
can hold about 16 albums of music and play for about 15 hours on a
battery, plus the control keys can be locked to stop you turning it
on or off in your pocket.
Sure it hasn't got a funky blue backlit display (LP likes them)
or ID3 tagging but it does have an equalizer and is just £85 which
is a small price to pay for a 256mb memory stick and an MP3 player,
if no frills is for you then the Yakumo Hypersound 256 is for you.
